I do not know what is good for bleeding, I apologize for that. I used to bleed heavily myself. I haven't in several years now, but the hotflashes are terrible. I have been taking black cohosh, but I just started it, so I can not tell if it is helpin…

Chinese New Year -- Surprise!

Gongxi facai – Congratulations and may you prosper.
Gongxi, Gongxi – Congratulations!

It is my first Chinese New Year and I'm alone. Like Christmas in America, when people see you alone on the holiday, they look at you with that 'where are your people' frown, or worse, the sympathetic… Continue

Lantern Festival, Lunar Eclipse

Yuánxiaojié
I saw a red ember
flying in the night
dying in its flight
slowly burning
a fiery flower
a smoky stem
falling toward me
like a wayward
star tumbling
in the moonlight
growing smaller
in its graceful
decent no
wind to hasten
it's demise
falling, this bit of
firework,… Continue

A White Christmas in Fuyang

We woke up to a white Christmas in Fuyang--just not the kind you might expect. Fog. Everywhere. Deep, dense fog. It was beautiful and otherworldly. Like we were between worlds. No lights, no music, no advertisements, nothing that shouts out Christmas like in the Western world.… Continue

Happy Yule -- The Sun has Returned

Happy Yule! It's been a long, dark night here in China but the light has returned. I have a sprig of holly and a small branch of everygreen for my altar. I plucked the holly fresh from a tree [asking permission of course] after doing a ritual and meditation last night on the roof top u… Continue

Holiday Eating Tips!

HOLIDAY EATING TIPS

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's… Continue

Profile Information

Explain your path.
I have been a priestess and witch for over 10 years. I studied under Susan Merrie Hellerer and WomenWheel in New York City. I'm a green witch and have studied herbology for many years. I've moved to China with my partner to teach English. I am trying to keep to my practices in this strange and beautiful land. I had to leave my books and tools at home. I expect to recreate what I can, as best as I can here. I thought this community might help me keep in touch. I've been a member of GrannyMoon's email for several years.
Do you have family or familiars?
I gave up my beloved cat when I moved to China. I miss him terribly.
What is your favorite saying?
The Tao is the witches' way and the witches' way is the Tao.

An act of meditation is actually an act of faith--of faith in your spirit, in your own potential. Faith is the basis of meditation. Not of faith in something outside you--a metaphysical buddha, an unattainable ideal, or someone else's words. The faith is in yourself, in your own "buddha-nature." You too can be a buddha, an awakened being that lives and responds in a wise, creative, and compassionate way.
