Merry Meet! I have been doing Reiki for 3 yrs., so I am really just a newbie to it,but have had awesome experiences because of it. I was wondering...I have found that if I lay my hands on my patients ( I am an LVN) when they are actively dying, they become calm and relaxed and pass away very quickly. This has happened on numerous occasions, so I am very conscious about not touching patients who are close to crossing over unless I am sure their family is ready for them to go. Has anyone else had this experience? I also have found that I no longer have to put both hands on someone to perform Reiki. We had some chickens recently that we were raising. When they were babies my son accidentally loved on one of them too hard and it was badly hurt and close to death. So I thought, "What they heck!" and held it in my hands very close to my body. After about an hour, and after getting the chick to stop cuddling me, I let her go and she hopped away like nothing had ever happened to her. It was very exciting! I also find that it's hard sometimes working in the health care field. I work in a nursing home and when I meet patients family members often times my hands just start heating up and sometimes my whole body does. I just want to reach out and touch them and help them. Most of them would be freaked out about that though! Well, I can't wait to get to know you all better! Many blessings )0(

I find it very difficult to communicate in email.

In doing distant healing if there is a circumstance where getting permission is not possible I would send the healing/Reiki and address the person's HigherSelf in meditation saying that they were free to use this healing energy in whatever way they wanted for the highest good of everyone.

In my first message copied below, I was looking for others opinions on the best way to get attunements from the viewpoint of Reiki teachers or and from the student perspective. Just wanted to hear about others experiences with attunement process. I had 5 separate classes with attunements all in person.

"Altho some people do the Reiki attunements from a distance, I would suggest that anyone beginning Reiki get the attunements in person. If not all, at least the first level. Anybody else have any feelings about this? Obviously if you live in East Cupcake with no one to do attunements nearby, distant attunements could be done."

Honestly, I don't remember which kind of training I had. I was in Level II. I don't like to use that expression. It sounds like the terminology I used with preschoolers so they knew they had made progress. So to me, it sounds ... unnecessary.
That said, I think the issue about charging for Reiki attunements has been one of those discussions that quickly gets heated and often leads to people making enemies.
Although I've been told I should consider myself a Reiki Master, I don't pretend that I would even consider to do so. The classes showed me what I was doing. They didn't show me how to judge what I could be doing to someone hundreds of miles away. To accept distance work on the basis of title doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
When you ask about Reiki teachers who charge a lot of money, I can't judge what would seem like a lot of money to you. Most of the Reiki healers I know don't charge. They suggest to the client that they would like compensation for their efforts on the basis of how they were able to help them. This leaves things open for the client to determine how they can best express their gratitude. However, I've often wondered if they had as much luck with people who felt every effort for them should be free. I've never seen any of them turn people away. Outside of that, I don't consider it my business.
I am aware of the difference between sending healing and Reiki attunements. Healing has no charge or suggestion. But it is never done without permission.
I hope I understood you this time. I'm sorry if there was some kind of confusion before that I wasn't aware of. Please let me know if what I have said was unclear. I wouldn't want to be misunderstood.

Hi again,
There are various schools and systems of Reiki now. My training has been mostly Usui Reiki. In that system, in order to do distant healing, you would have to have had Level II. In order to give attunements to someone else so they could do Reiki on themselves and others, you have to be Reiki Master.
I believe that sending distant healing is more about intention than what system of Reiki, or any energy work, you are using.
I guess what I was trying to find out was how you feel about Reiki teachers who charge alot of money for Reiki attunements done from distance, ie there is no direct contact with the student at the time of the attunements. IMHO, there is a difference between sending distant healing reiki and sending distant reiki attunements. ```Lupa

Hi, I took two classes in Reiki. I was surprised that I had been using it for some time without training. I met a woman who used it with animals in a veterinay clinic. I studied how to help my dog who is an older toy poodle. I have been able to relieve his pain from arthritis on most days. I don't have the knack to help with respiratory problems.

Attunements, in my opinion, vary according to the person. Most people find that if they are new to reiki, it feels more assuring to have a one on one experience with their healer. Most first level providers are unable to manage distance healing, I am told. I think it would be something like getting a diagnosis by phone from an assistant compared to having a diagnosis verified and a prescription suggested by a specialist in a traditional medical situation.

This isn't to say the experiences are truly comparable or that they can be exchanged. I happen to think that medicine practices each have their places and common sense should be the one that guides you to which one you need most in your situation.

I have a few experiences with getting my car started on cold mornings, unlocking my frozen door, and melting ice, sometime unintentionally. I'm not sure that it's always Reiki or possibly strange karma.

But I find that relaxation without Reiki can be difficult for me and quickly leads to blood pressure and hypertension problems. --lightdancer54

Hi, I just signed up for GM's Ning Thing and posted about Reiki Healing Circles over at the Healing Circle discussion if you want to look at that for some of my thoughts on Reiki. I'm a Reiki Master,

Christmas morning found my spouse and I standing in front of a keypunch control for an
electric gate that was frozen . The keys wouldn't push in, there had been a freezing rain the
night before. We were attempting to get through the gate in order to see our daughter, son in law,
two grandsons , and our son in laws mother. The gate was a ways from the house. And it was
zero degrees outside.

So it was open the gate or call on our cell phones. In a last ditch effort, I took off my gloves,
rubbed my hands together rapidly, put them over the keypad, fixed the Cho Ku Rei in my mind,
then blew between my hands frequently for thirty seconds. Then pushed the code keys, and the
gate opened. Yeah for Reiki!

To start with, I love the little bear. Being a collector of sorts of Teddy bears.
And a beautiful rendition of the distance symbol.

When I did the second degree, my teacher gave me some card stock, printed versions of the
symbols and told me to start drawing the symbols, every chance I got over and over untill I could
do it by memory. Then draw them big on the card stock. It took me over a month.

But the uses of those cards in meditation, fixing a crystal to a specific purpose, etc. has been
so helpful. After all those years, I still have my original cards. And I teach my occasional students
the same way.

To change the subject, has anyone read any good Reiki books lately? I am slowly starting
and I mean slowly due to the holidays, one called 'Sacred Path of Reiki, Healing as a Spiritual
Discipline' by Katalin Koda. She talks about becoming a Reiki Warrior, and it seems to be
she is a Wiccan. And there is some influence there. But as I said, I am only just dipping into the book.
Over the years I have collected a few Reiki books, and have loaned them out to students of mine
with the intent of having them get an idea of what is out their for them to choose as they
progress in their learning.
And after all these years, I have never had a student not return a book, untill lately. But that
is another story. Seems that eventually you will end up with a student who maybe has a long way
to go to finding personal integrity.

Another book I really enjoy is 'Animal Reiki' by Elizabeth Fulton and Kathleen Prasad. Being
a animal lover, and using Reiki seemed very natural to me.

Well I gotta go, snow is falling and I have to gear up and go feed the chickens.
